I have a SM Farmall. I replaced the seals and oring and the pinion bull brake shaft fell out now when I put it back together the left tire will not turn .And the bull pinion cage is cracked. What did I do wrong.

I don't think you did anything wrong. AFAIK, the bull pinion shouldn't come out of the tractor without pulling the top cover off the rear end of the tractor. I think it was broke before you took it apart.

sounds like you didn't have the pinion lined up good enough and forced it together.
did you pull it together with the bolts?
been there,done that.

Well you could have broken it taking it apart. The bull gear must be taken off of the rear axle and that requires the pulling of the axle to let the gear move rearward enough to clear the inner part of the pinion cage. The silly things look like they should just come out, they do not without the bull gear removal. If prying was involved, it broke. Do not try to make it turn at all, you will damage the bearings pinion and bull gear if not break the main dif case. There are many descriptions on the Search for archives here on the removal process. If you broke it join the club, it is a pretty common happening (once) JimN

The bull pinion can be removed on a SM with out removing the top cover. The back disc brake surface plate is the retainer.
