Super C Gear Problem

I have a 1952 Farmall Super C. We pulled the floor to inspect the gear oil, but when we put it back on we somehow seem to have misaligned the gear shift. It seems to always be in gear and can't seem to get it into reverse. I am not sure how to align the rails to put it back in the right pattern. Can someone help me with how to put the gears back in the right position to re-install the gear shift? Pictures will help a great deal. Thanks Dennis

You must not have had the shifters all lined up in neutral. You can try to pull the shifter lever and line them up. But if the shifting forks arent lined up you will have to pull the tranny top to get them in position so they will line up on the groves that move the gears. My guess is the forks arent lined up.

I agree with Gene,
It is likely that one of the shift forks did not go into the groove in the gear it controls. This causes the issue. If the rails cannot be aligned through the shifter hole with a moderate prying and some rocking of the tractor to take pressure off of the gears, it will need the top pulled again.
If you never took out the shifter when pulling the top off, that is most likely the problem. JimN

Thanks to all for the helpful advice. I hope to get time to pull the shift out this weekend and see how it looks. Dennis
