Cub gas tank to fuel filter

I thought it was time to put the fuel strainer onto the bottom of the Cub fuel tank. The one I have, which is supposed to be for a Cub, will not fit on the hexagonal piece below the fuel tank.
Can someone assist? I looked in all my manuals and books and do not see exactly how the fuel strainer fits beneath the fuel tank.

If the fitting now in the tank is removable, do so. The new sediment bowl should screw in that thread. If it is brazed in, or stuck, be careful not to damage the tank. The sediment bowl should be directly in the tank (I believe) JimN

Janicholson is correct that fitting ain't supposed to be there. Just replaced the one on my cub last week.

Take the fitting out of the tank and the sedimint assy will go rite in. I use the liquid teflon for a sealer on the threads.
