I'd ask this question on another board but they tend to ignore new guys. I rewired a 1010 JD,still has a generator with a separate regulator. Need to know where to wire in the gen light. I've looked at my books and wiring schematic , but it doesn't show any useful info.
Thanks in advance

I dont have any wiring diagram for that tractor, but if its a generator with a voltage regulator I can tell ya this. If one side of the light were wired to a switched voltage source like say the ignition switches IGN output (or equivalent point) so its hot ONLY when the ignition is turned on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and the other was wired to the GEN/ARM terminal on the VoltAGE Regulator,,,,,,,,,,,When you turned on the switch prior to the engine running the light will burn cuz it gets a ground path via the gennys armature but then once running iffffffffffff the genny is working the light would go out.

Thanks John that was info I needed. I knew that it had to be grounded part of the time, but I was thinking the wrong terminal on the volt regulator.
