Hello, I just bought a farmall h and was going to change the manifold on it it is a 1942 daul fuel tractor it still has the origanal manifold on it but it is cracked i was going to put a new gas manifold on and when i tried the carb would not bolt up right and the govenor shaft was to short has anyone else ever had this problem? do i need to change something else? anyone have a good dual fuel manifold?it is a china manifold is that the problem? Thanks guys
 
If it is a China manifold, it is most likely junk. Did you buy it off eBay? It is very hard to find new parts on eBay that are not made in China. I bought my manifold from Steiner and it has worked nice for me, new manifolds have a large carb mounting flange so the manifold will also fit the Super H and 300.
 
I've heard of some of those manifolds that would not bolt up to the engine properly, but I've never heard of problems getting the carburetor to fit properly. Would you mind telling us who you bought the new manifold from?
 
yes it did come off ebay i contacted the guy and he said he had no problems with them and that they fit fine it has a large mounting spot for the carb and is made in china JUNK
 
Sorry about the bad purchase. Most new manifolds have a large mounting flange with slotted holes, they make them that way so they can say it will fit the H, Super H and 300.
 
Helped friend with new H manifold few years back and ran into problem with carb bolting uo to manifold. We used what some will call Red Neck fix but it has worked for fine several years, we simply used Grade 8**1/4 inch bolts in place of the regular studs.
 
Put the carb up against the bottom of the flange and use spray paint to locate the holes to be slotted for a fit. Bolts and nuts may be needed. Adjust it forward if it will help fit the tube. If it is still not possible, removal and machining may be in order. JimN

your dual fuel manifold . Have done them before.
