Today's Favorite Tractor

Left the house at 6:30. By noon, I'd reached the hay, cleared a path and had 5 bales into the lot to the cattle by 2.

That old tractor flat out paid for itself 3 times over today.

Tomorrow, I'll swallow hard and do a headcount.

I'm glad your operational. The drifts looked pretty serious in the last pics.
My thoughts are with you as the tole is taken on the animals. Jim

Started about 10pm on Wednesday night and went thru Friday midday with 80mph winds.

One of those freakish Nebraska killer storms that come about every 30 years or so.

Last one cost me 7 yearlings and 140 head of hogs. Critters bunch up together and smother just like a bunch of chickens.

I've got one drift that I don't want to melt because I know what's under there. :>(

Allan,
Sledding is rough enough this year without the snow.Sorry to hear about the livestock ,step father and client loss.
Hope it improves for you

Rough start to fall. Hope things get better and stay that way. Our farm in Sheridan Indiana is wide open flat ground like that. We get 3 inches of snow and the fields are blown clear but the roads and buildings are burried. In the blizzard of 78 the snow drifts went to the top of the pole barns. We need to get those southern boys to point fans up this way and put them on high.

Good luck buddy. I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I know there is NOTHING in Louisiana that can do that. I'll take my changes with the occasional hurricane. Hope your livestock count will equal what you had before the storm.

I agree with ChadS, in conditions like that, the tractor with the best heater is the favorite. By looking, it must have one hell of a heater to keep ya warm with the doors off.

Post some pics when the snow starts to melt off.

I live in Natchitoches, LA. Born and raised in Elmer... Small world. Went to Oak Hill K-12 grade, graduated in 1999. My father runs cattle on 140 acres in Elmer. Whom are the relatives?
