HAVE A QUESTION HOPING CAN GET THE RIGHT ANSWER
WHAT COLOR SEAT PAN CANVAS'S DID THE M'S HAVE
EARLY ONES WERE BLACK RIGHT WHAT YEAR DID THEY DISCONTIUE BLACK CANVAS? ALSO WHEN DID THE SILVER CANVAS SEAT FIRST COME OUT?

I don't think anyone will have a specific answer for that. There is no serial number break in the parts book. IH likely just changed suppliers. My dad had a prewar H, but I was only 2-3 years old, and I certainly don't remember the seat color. Our 47 H seat was silver. So, the change was earlier than that.

I just heard silver was used because it was cooler if the tractor sat in the sun for a bit. Seems I remember some being just plain old metal with holes painted red, but I may be brain farting since I am tired.
