IH 574 serial number and suffix

I purchased a IH 574 gas has a 6 digit serial # starts with 138... and suffix of BSX. Does anyone no the year and what does the BSX mean? Was the last year of production 1978 ? THANKS

Hi Doc, serial numbers on this site say starting with:
1970 - 504, 1971 - 650, 1972 - 3329, 1973 - 7074,
1974 - 102961, 1975 - 107880, so your 138 is newer than 1975.

The BSX is:
B = fast gear set in transmission.
S = 14/51 Bevel gear set (20 mph road gear)
X = 614 or 642 RPM PTO.

Doc,
If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it? I looked today at a 574 diesel with a heavy duty loader and the guy is asking $6,500. Just curious if that's a good buy. This one also starts with 138. Good to know it's not the first model year.
