OK... I've been reading archives and other documents.. Still reading archives, there's lots!!! Got a 560 standard with TA, no PS. My TA doesn't do a thing, but everything else appears normal. I'm not gonna touch anything until I get a good grip on what I'm doing.

But... I've got a couple questions

With the TA lever forward, the TA clutch is engaged, which holds to TA in the HIGH gear position? ergo, pulled back, freed clutch, rolls to low side to drop the 1/2 gear?

Some refer to "High Side" and "Low Side".
is this another way of saying High Side is lever forward, clutch engaged, and Low Side is lever pulled back, clutch freed, TA rolls and drops the 1/2 gear?

You guys are great! Never Stop!

Oh... and its hard to pull out of gear when on incline. from reading, it appears my TA is not adjusted correctly. (been like this for a few years) Brad.

Brad: You have it on all counts. Hard to shift is out of adjustment whether TA works or not. High Side is direct drive or forward on TA lever. Low Side is low range or TA lever pulled back.

Usually the first symptom of TA failure is slipping on low side, caused mainly letting tractor free wheel on low side, or operating for years out of adjustment, or shifting too slow.

Hay Brad if I remember it right you were asking about power steering for that tractor as well. If you want I can get some pictures of the setup I have for mine as I will be around home this weekend. I also have a p.s. manual I can scan and send images of if you want. Just let me know

Clutch is engaged on high side, entire unit rotates. This is direct drive as if the TA was not there. Clutch is disengaged on low side, planatary gear sets give the speed reduction. That is an extreme oversimplification.

JJ. Thanks. I'd sure like to have some pics. Power steering and an adjusted TA would make my puppy worth keeping. if you can email, get me at [email protected]

on another thread, someone was asking about changing bunches of stuff 'cause she was running rough. the Ol' boys said to take 'er out and work it for 10 hours. I can tell you that does work. I put in some injector cleaner, and ran baling on some hilly fields, and WOW! what a difference. Still a bear to start cold, GP's don't seem to work all that well. (one is dead) but once warmed up, I can run in 3rd where before I needed to drop into 2nd. (hope the TA will help with heavy 3rd loads!)

brad.

thanks all.

I found my ITmanual for it. have been studying the adjustments. I think it was the Vet who said to check for wear on the pins first, replace as necessary. Then it may be a matter of feel as opposed to measurements. I'm a tweaker at heart, so I think I'm gonna give it a try.

I'll ask more as I need more.

Thanks for the help.
brad.
