I think I speller valve wrong, anyway number 3 cyl intake is stuck open is there a trick to freeing it or do I need to remove the head???

You need to go at it carefully, I'll say that up front, but you can try removing the rocker assembly and keeping the valve stem in question sozzled in your favorite penetrating solution, and then tapping lightly with a not too heavy hammer on the top of the valve stem. A 12-oz hammer would be more than enough if it's going to come loose that way, and you wouldn't want to put a whole lot of gumption into that.

What you're trying to do with this method is to tap it down just enough that the slight downward motion from the tap and the upward motion from the spring tension pulling it back up will allow it to work loose. Please DON'T try to hit it hard enough to free it up with one whap.

try spraying carb & choke cleaner on valve stem and let run down into guide. i just took a head off a w d i have that had old gas in and after using if the next day it wound'nt start. 3 intakes were stuck open and stuck tight. after i finaly got them out i sprayed with carb cleaner, took all varnish off. had i tried this first i think i could have saved price of gasget set.
