Super C compression readings...

Did a compression test on my super c because it smokes some. This is what I found...

Throttle fully advanced and all plugs removed.

Dry test

#1 cylinder 100psi
#2 cylinder 100psi
#3 cylinder 100psi
#4 cylinder 25psi

Wet test...

#1 cylinder 115psi
#2 cylinder 115psi
#3 cylinder 115psi
#4 cylinder 25psi

No change in the #4 cylinder I'll check for stuck valves tommorrow. What are your thoughts here?

The readings look pretty good except for the low cylinder. It may have a bent push rod & a stuck valve. I found a Kubota generator sitting out along the street for the trash truck. It had good fire and it didn't have any compression. I pulled the head and found the exhaust valve stuck open. Freed up the valve and it fired right up.

Matt: Are you getting any oil fouling of number 4 plug. I've got same in my 130, C-123 engine, 1, 3 and 4 are all over 100 psi, number 2 is around 65 psi and that plug keeps loading up with oil. Got to be rings in my opinion.

If your not getting oil fouling then I'd look to the valves.

yup stuck valve, head gasket, hole in the piston. pull the valve cover and take a look at the rocker arms as you turn it over, see if you got good valve travel. could be stuck. if not, with the valves closed, blow a little compressed air in the spark plug hole and see where the air is coming out. prolly need a valve job, and either guides or have them knurled.

O.K pulled the valve cover off this morning only to find #4 intake valve push rod leaning on the rock arm. So repositioned the push rod and adjusted all valves and will do another compression check on that cylinder. Intake valve constantly close means couldn't culp any air to compress right? Time will tell...

I would crank over the engine and make sure that valve is moving and check that push rod to see if it's bent. Hal
