Changing 06 series to 56 series shift linkage

Can someone tell me what is involved in changing an 06 series to 56 series shift linkage? What do I need for parts and/or how much of a job is it to do this? I have a 706 with a loader and it would be nicer to have the 56 series gear shift and linkage as mine is getting quite worn anyway and needs to be repaired anyway.
Thanks

Well ya need the shifters and linkage then ya need to get the range cover and all the innereds from a 56 series along with the rev shifting fork and the rev. shifter rod . Myself i would fix what i have and do it wright then fallow my way of asjusting the clutch free travel along with the trans brake and dump valve and she will shift like the day she was new .Now i know that the 56 series tractor has a much better shifter but by the time the salvage yard gets done with ya and ya buy the new parts to freshen up that shifter you'll have a good down payment on a 756. To bad your not in my back yard as give me a day and i would have fixed.

I believe you"ll also need to replace the right hand gear selector support- the cast piece where the front hydraulic remote couplers attach.

Re-inventing the wheel? I'd personally rebuild the 706 shift linkages, forks, ect. Proper clutch and TA adjustments go a long way on shift quality.
