Model M manual

Were can I get a manual for the model M. It looks like there are several for different components. Is there a manual that covers the entire tractor. I am trying to find out what the hydraulic cylinder on the 3 point will lift. I need to lift a 1200 pound round bale will it do it if a build an attachement.

Thanks

The only diffugulty I can anticipate is that the IH Operator's Manual for your M might have some information that you can use as a basis for your decision, but it isn't going to address the 3-pt directly. There might be something in it about the capacity of the Fast Hitch, which would be informative but not directly useful.

The manual is available on the store at the link to the left or at external_link

www.external_link has the best manuals. Except for some of the Blue Ribbon Manuals, they are converted to digital for much clearer diagrams. Jensales and Case-IH sell photocopies which are not as clear, particularly Jensales.

I agree about Jensales manuals not being very clear. I bought a H manual from Jensales and it was JUNK, very, very poor reprint.

Buck Wayne, If you have a 3-point hitch on your M, it is either after-market or home made. Saganaw and Worksaver both sell 3-point hitch for M. These hitches can be ordered with either two cylinders or one cylinder. The Worksaver that I have on a H has two 3" cylinders. I copied that one, using two 4" cylinders, to install onto my M. The amount of weight you can lift is a factor of the size of your cylinders X pump. (I am assuming you are using the factory belly pump). My M with the 4" cylinders will lift much, much more than the H with the 3" cylinders will lift. Both my H and M will lift a 1200 lb bale. Your problem will be keeping the front of the tractor on the ground. Front wheel weights and even more weight will be necessary; but, don't get too carried away with weights...tractors have been broken in half by over doing it. (Although usually with a front end loader rather than rear lift). Also be prepared to steer by using your brakes.
If your hitch only has one cylinder you may have to add another cylinder onto your hitch. Just install it on the opposite side from your existing cylinder.
I think the lift capacity is determined by some mathematical factor of pump X cylinder(s). (The bigger the cylinder the more you can lift). Somebody here will know.
I like Binder Books for manuals.

With respect, No M ever had a fast hitch stock. no M manual would have info. But it is found on 400s and 450s. they have much different hydraulics
