? on lower bolster and bearing on front wheel of 560

I took apart the bearing cap on the one front wheel of my 560 as it was wobbling. I assumed it was in need of tightening or replacement of the bearings. What I found instead was that most of the threads are gone on the spindle. My question is will the bearings on the 560 front wheels fit onto a bolster from a 400 or M? I think I have a lead on one that is from a 400 but don't know if the bearings will interchange onto the boltster or not.

You will have to do some measureing.

There are at least two different sizes of narrow front spindles that I know of and maybe more.

They will all bolt up to the tractors with the same top 4 bolt pattern.

Measure the diameter of your spindle where the bearing rests and do the same to the one you are looking to buy.

If all else fails, & you can't find a different bolster, assemble the wheel hub [bearings, seal] & set the bearing pre-load using a new nut. Then weld the nut to the spindle. Of course you WILL have to get a new assembly next time.

There are a couple of different style nuts available to correct this problem. One style is a split tapered sleeve type that is screwed on the damaged thread and then another nut is added over the tapered threads on the outside of the sleeve to clamp it tight on the damaged threads. The other style is a split nut with a cinch bolt through it. The nut is threaded on the damaged threads and then the cinch bolt is drawn up to clamp tightly on the damaged threads.

Thanks for the replies guys. Owen, I was thinking that years back there was a nut or a part as you describe that was being offered thru the Central Tractor catalog. I looked thru the newest one that I have (now nnalert) and could not find one. Do you know of a source for these? I don't road the tractor much and we don't moldboard plow so I am thinking if I can find one of these it might save some agrevation and time and hold up just as well for me.
