I was reviewing some of my bookmarks and found Jerry Apps, he is going to be speaking at the National Farm Toy Show next weekend. I really enjoy him and have several of his books. Ok, now to my ? Can someone tell me about this event? Are there HUGE crowds? Are most of the toys imports? If I did go, is there a good old fashioned cafe/bakery to stop at? I got to use my Farmall 340 to uproot two old tractor tires this warm afternoon-68 degrees. Years back they provided a raised bed for strawberries, now, just weeks. Me thinks I should take a tractor ride for breakfast-low of 38 degrees. Enjoy your weekend folks.

I live 20 min North and I did not make the show last year. However at times years on end you must wait for a person to move so you can advance one step.

There are three major buildings ---High school (Beckman) and a museum 1/2 block south of Beckman. Both are on the main drag. And then Joe Ertls (Scale Models) building / factory that is pretty much a few blocks North of the big Church I would guess 15-20 blocks away from Beckman. All are very easy to find. Spec Cast may have a open house, I have never taken that one in as I'm usualy kinda tired by the time I see the other three.

The whole town tries to capture the dollars where they can. They seem to many times anger the rain and snow Gods, seems that is just part of the show.

It makes no differance what toy tractors you are looking for, you will find it a dozen times. I can't imagine how may toy tractors are for sale.

I also can't imagine anyone being disapoined, other than a angry wife or perhaps your banker.

Lots of places to eat.

I will be heading down to Dyersville on Friday and this will be my third year attending. I highly recommend the Country Junction resturant. Usually, Beckman school is pretty crowded but the rest isn't to bad. I spoke to Jerry Apps last year and he is really a nice gentleman. Do you know when and where he will be speaking? If you like toy models you will definitely not be disappointed.

Most likely Jerry will be at the park pavilion or (maybe)in the High School. If he is at the H.S. I would bet he is in the main hallway by the J.C's and Lions club tables.

I have a table in the H.S. cafeteria for anyone attending. Stop by and talk IH red or bash green.

For food...try the Country Junction. I know the former owners VERY well. For Breakfast, the Dyersville Family restuarant downtown has a great b-fast buffet!!!

my brother and i will be going to the national toy show on friday. we have been going to it since 1991. there can be 15 to 20k people attending over the 3 days. many vendors set up both inside and outside in tents. the national farm toy museum is a must see. lots of toys and farm displays. some amazing stuff. you can buy floor rights that will allow you enter the show earlier than the general public. we usually get through most of the show on friday. the park also has some vendors set up and they have a micro-mimi tractor pull. you can watch 1/8 hp tractors pull a couple hundred pounds. lots of interesting toys to look at or buy!
