Pulling gas engine in Farmall 504

I need to rebuilt the bottom end in my gas Farmall 504 and need to pull the engine. Do I have to split the tractor? Or can I just pull off the sheetmetal and wiring and hoses, unbolt it and pull it out?

I have a 504 diesel and I have split it twice. Once for the clutch and once for the TA. The frame rails bolt to the bellhousing (I think) so I would assume you would have to split to remove the engine (I think). It has been over 10 years since I split it and it is 60 miles away at this moment. In about a week I am going to bring it back home. I can give more info then.

Do you have a manual of sorts to reference?

To remove the engine, it's much easier to disassemble the tractor from the front back, rather than actually "split" it.

Remove the hood and radiator.
Remove the front bolster and front end.
Remove the frame rails.

Now the engine is hanging out in the open, ready to be removed.

Technically, you are splitting the tractor at the bellhousing still.
