Cub radiator draining

Soon I am going to drain and flush the radiator on my '49 Cub.
There is a petcock at the base of the radiator (I think) and also I think there is a plug at the base of the front end. Is it best to drain from that plug if'n I can get it out?? That makes more sense to me. What do you experienced folks think?

I had to get a special tool from Sears to get the plug out ('77 Cub) last spring. Replaced with a brass one from NAPA so it won't corrode again. Same thing on two 140's.

There is no petcock in the radiator. The plug in the lower bolster is the way to drain it. If it hasn't been out in a while it may be fun getting it out. If you do get it out, do as mentioned and replace it with a brass plug or replace it with a petcock.

This evening I went to my Tractor Building and looked at the Cub. Where the drain plug goes I have a ........ petcock. That answers my question. It opens easily, very easily, and sprays coolant on my leg like a feisty dog. Not recently, but it did get me a month or so ago when I turned the handle on the petcock. :)

Howdy Michael Adams. I have a 59 Cub. I'd open the pet-cock and also remove the plug. The plug drains the cast iron block below the radiator. rw
