Farmall C Carter float level? WOW the H is finally home!

Any one got float level spec's for the Carter UT off a Farmall C? Got 2 of em the other is off a 240 and is a little different but the same float. Also finally got the 53 H single front wheel tractor home WOW what a pain! Someone took the trans cover off and got it stuck in 2 gears and couldn't get it on the first trailer we took out. Finally got a trailer with 16,000lb winch got it on the trailer and had to tie it too a tree to get it off, sound familiar too anyone? I will try to post pictures when I can. This tractor was headed for the scrap yard but I couldn't let it happen since I drove it as a kid 35yrs ago. Seems we get a soft spot for old memories, OH WELL. Hope someone can help with the Carter carb spec's. Thanks DAN

Do you have some pics of your H? I can't stand seeing old tractors being scrapped. My Dad saved a W-4 from being scrapped. Glad you saved that H.

would like to see pics also, I agree with Andy, its a shame to see any of "em go to scrap
would also like to know the serial number of the super h you saved - been making a list

Pat, Here's one for your list. SH6440J sits in a fence row on my old home place. Tractor was only used about 8 years, then put in a barn and was scavenged for parts by the neighbors, maybe someday i'll get around to doing something with it. It's in the upper pennisula of Michigan. Later PUTTER

I have a spec sheet for the Carter (from Carter Carburetor), and it says.....

Top of float 11/64 inch plus or minus 1/64 below top surface of upper body casting

This is the same carb I have on my C.

Hope this helps.

PS.....be careful with the floats on those Carters as last time I checked you cannot get a new one. Mine had a leak in the float, but I was able to open up the bad spot, drain and dry, then solder the bad spot back up. Still seems to be working.

Hey, does that '53 H have disc brakes?

Man, I'd love a '53 "Stage 0" "Super" H (i.e. one of the last original Hs). That'd complete the collection.

Buy it and restore it. I don't know if I believe this, but in the latest issue of Red Power Magazine there is a picture of a restored 1953 H with disc brakes, SN 391406, that sold at auction in Preston, MN for $16250. That has to be a misprint, but---. On the preceding page, an ordinary looking 600 gas sold in Osmond, NE for (get this) $30000--485 600's made, I suppose that's why.. 1956 W450, SN 408 $5900, Straight 650 gas with the wrong paint, $5400. Almost in my price range a fair looking Super C sold for $2250. The large, nationally advertised auctions price us "normal" people out of our price ranges.
