10-20 paint codes

Here's a web site that claims he has the correct paint code for the 10-20's. Hal

(quoted from post at 05:44:32 10/28/08) gray- dupont 27625 red- dupont 7410

The guys at the website El Toro noted found a couple cans of NOS and reproduced the color after painting a sample on a 15-30. They noted a distinct difference from the 27625.

Fordson House sells an enamel, but I don't recall the brand; they also say it was replicated it from a NOS can.

There a pictures of a 10-20 in recent threads showing one painted with the Fordson House paint; I sure like the color and it seems right [but wasn't around in 1935, so can't claim to know what's right!]; however, I'm not sure either how it compares to the Dupont formulas from McCormick-Deering.com.

To the other extreme of correct......On a couple different places I didn't know what red was correct or even acceptable: I've used Rustoleum's Regal Red. It's not a polyurethane or anything super tough, but quite availabe [even can ussually find a rattle can quick if need be], doesn't hold up too bad, and a deep enough red that, barring things that should obviously have something more specific than 'red', you might not get many negative observations.

Thanks guys. I checked at Arnold Motor yesterday and they gave me the 27625 and7410 numbers too. I tried to get the prices from McCormick Deering website but my landline internet is so slow I finally gave up. I'm inclined to check out the Fordson House if I can get thru!! Thanks again for your help.

McCormick-Deering.com wrote me this reply just last week:

The formula is available for Centari and Imron base DuPont paints and can be mixed by a local jobber. I believe the cost of a gallon is between $125 to $175 plus the $25 for the formula from us.

Fordson house is listing $47.00/gallon. Its an enamal - likely explaining the price difference from the DuPonts. I think you have to catch him before 2 EST [or is that Rice?]; the phone # is (906) 786-5120; very friendly and helpful,; though most tractor people are! :D

Without any first hand of either specific brand, I'd say choose your preferred paint type to make the decision.
