Int. 350 U Putting on new ring gear correctly

We are working on a Int. 350 U tractor and it needs a ring gear(old one badly worn). We have someone to change it but we were wondering how to tell which way it goes on. They say you can't turn one around like on a car or truck or we would turn the old one. THANKS!!!

I am not sure what you mean, it will bolt to the carrier only one way!
The entire differential can be put into the case with the ring gear on the other side of the pinion, but the tractor will go backwards in forward gears. The shifter rails might not work correctly, but the issue you raise is not clear.
Clearancing and setting tooth patterns are serious business, and an experienced mechanic is a good idea. JimN

Yes, the ring gear goes on the flywheel. I"m sorry, I wasn"t clear. We have a mechanic who said he would put it on if I got one so he may know how it goes on, as he has done truck ones for us. Just wanted a tractor person"s advise. THANKS!!!

If the teeth on the ring gear are chamfered, the chamfer goes toward the starter drive. If the teeth are just straight cut, look on the inside for a bevel. The bevel will go toward the flywheel. If the the teeth are straight cut and you have no bevel or two bevels, it can be installed either way.
