OT-LeftRight chisel points

This is a little OT, but I need some help. I'm putting all new twisted points on a 11 shank three-point chisel plow. I've looked everywhere to try to find out where to put the left and the rights. I've looked on the net, through old set-up manuals and talked to some folks at the dealerships. I thought there would be a simple rule of thumb. It does not have points on now, so I can't just replace them.

I have 4 shanks on the front gang, 3 shanks on the middle gang, and four on the back.

Is there a simple rule I can follow?

Thanks,
Paul

On my trailer type chisel plow I have found it dosen't matter so long as they alternate. Every other one on each gang, or one gang one way and the other the next. I have also had good results with sweeps behind the twisted points.

I would put the ones on the widest set bar inward, the middle bar two left, one right, and the third bar (rear or front) ourward. Thus keeping the edges of the tilled earth as even as possible. JimN

Thanks guys,
You are both right, it's probably not that big of a deal. I'll look it over and do what I think looks right and see how it leaves the dirt.

Paul, where are you located and what are you trying to do ? Are you trying to break sod or CRP, primary tillage or cracking up hardpan ?

I"m in South-Central Illinois, just south of the really good black dirt.I"m going to chisel my double crop bean ground (winter wheat ground planted into soybeans after the wheat is harvested in mid-June)I"ll break up some hard pan and leave a little dirt on the surface, along with the ridges.  I think I can get in the field a couple of days earlier in the spring to plant corn.

Should be alternated l/r on each bar. You want the plow to plull straight, that's why they have two directions. If they were all rights. the plow would walk sideways to some extent.
