i have an early 574 with a d239 engine in it. i have rebuilt the engine several times and it has always had a vibration about it. the harmonic balancer is in time. the tractor has always blown out blue smoke until you put it under load. pump has been rebuilt and smoked just like it did before i had it built. any ideas appprecaited.

Well as for the vibration it has to be the balancer or a clutch that could be way out of balance or maybe even a bent crank. Now as for the smoke thing it could be several things that will cause this . Your injectors may not be cracking at the wright pressure or dribbling . The valves maybe set to deep in the head and this will cause low compression your pump timing maybe off .

thanks for come backs. the crank has been turned on one journal and ws done by a very old shop with lots of experience. don't think they would have missed it being crooked. clutch has been replace several times. i bought the tractor new. it has been turned upside down and was still running when its driver got to it. he had to reach up in under it and shut the tractor off. he was going to fast and ran off the road. its been a while since i had the injectors checked, but they have been set once. its hard to crank, but i don't know how to time it. seems like i did years ago, you had to remove the plate off the side of the pump and align two marks in there while it was running. is that some where close.
