I have a 454 International gas tractor. It has independent pto. When you you brush hog and the weeds get thick the pto slips. is there a adjustment. it works fine in light grass. and how hard is it to replace the discs for the pto. if there is no adjustment. Thanks
 
Hi Robert, check simple things first. Is hydraulic filter clean and lots of hydraulic fluid in transmission? Does power steering and 3pt function properly? Sometimes on that model of tractor the PTO control cable becomes rusty and when you engage the PTO lever fully forward, the control cable does not open the PTO hydraulic valve all the way. The cable runs from PTO lever across behind seat and to PTO hydraulic valve on top of MCV valve by hydraulic filter. There is a rubber boot that can be pried up and penetrating oil applied. Same at PTO lever end. If that doesn't fix the problem then the adjustment of PTO hydraulic pressure to PTO clutch pack requires hydraulic pressure gauge that can read to 250 PSI and some fittings. PTO clutch pack is in the transmission under the seat accessed by the access hole in the transmission under the right floor board. Hydraulic fluid must be drained first.
