504 d188 blowing oil

I have a d188 engine just completely rebuilt. It is leaking oil out of the vent tube. I was told to run it under a load to set the rings and it would probably stop, but hasn"t helped. Leaking oil at 2 qts/hour. Could something have been left out in the rebuild? Need help!!!

2 qts/hr is excessive. Running under a heavy load for a few hours will heat the engine and help seat the rings. Mine stays moist around the vent, but not dripping. Mine also has +10K hours. Good luck.

I am not familiar with that engine but if the vent tube is in the cover over the lifters its possible that the return oil from the head is blocked and the oil cant get back to the pan
