Super C - Filter Questions

Evening Guys,
As some of you may know, I bought my '54 Super C from "TractorSam" nearly a year ago. It spent the entire winter, and a portion of the spring, in his rented garage, being worked on...among other things, we did a nearly-total engine rebuild.

Well, since I got it home, I've put some hours on it...I decided today that I was going to do the filters. I figure since it's fresh out of rebuild, and oil/filters are fairly cheap, I'd be better doing it more often then I should, just to be safe....discretion being the better part of valor, and all that...

Hit up my local NAPA today, since Sam reassured me they would have all the part numbers on record, and that I'd have no problems. Walked in, asked for what I needed, and after the guy behind the counter stopped laughing, he said that his books showed nothing for the Super-C Air Cleaner filter. He had the Cartridge oil filter in stock, and $9 later, it followed me home. But he didn't have anything listed (And thus, nothing in stock) for the air filter. The only Internationals or Farmalls he had air filter listings for were the W-series.

Does anyone happen to have a number that I could take into them and have them reference it? The filter currently in the tractor might have a number, but I don't feel like fishing around in an oily filter, looking for a number that may or may not exist.

Thanks for the help, guys!

There is no replacement of the air filter; you just replace the oil in the attached cup with the same oil as is in the engine.
Have you invested in an owners manual yet?

"oily" is a clue here. The air filter element is non (maintenance) replaceable. The cup of oil at the bottom is all that needs to be cleaned and refilled. If you clean and refill it every oil change, you will never have to worry about the mesh inside the filter. Oil-bath filters like the C and Super C have are only problematic when neglected; the oil and dust turn to a sludge and plug up the mesh.

I have actually invested in a manual. It's just not within reach currently...shuffling things around the house, and while I know which box it's in, I can't locate that box currently. Thus, asking here was the easiest thing to do.

I would have sworn that Sam and I replaced that filter shortly before I bought the tractor. I guess not, though. Oh well.

Okay, on that note then....is there any way (or is it recommended?) to clean off/out the mesh filter when changing the oil bath? Like, for example, if the oil had turned milky?

Thanks for the help, guys!
