Running at full throttle it starts running out of fuel. The fuel pump was rebuilt and when manually operated shoots gas about 8 or 10". With the fuel line disconnected from the carb the plugs removed only a dribble of gas comes out of the line when cranking fast. A new push rod does not help. The push rod only moves a bout 1/4 inch in and out. Can the push rod be lengthened or should we try and locate another camshaft? Any body rebuild these? Advice appeciated.

My late dad had that problem on a 1939 Ford V8. A new pump would only last for a short while and I was a teen at the time and I changed the pump severa; times, then one of my classmates who's father was a machinist and a mechanic and I ask him about all those pumps quitting. He said pull that push rod and bring it up here. After he built it up never had anymore fuel pump problems. Hal
