Farmall A will not run well

I have an A that when put under a load sputters and spitts, it will do this if the throttle is advanced vary fast.

What should I do?

Does it improve the way it run if you choke it when that happens or does it make it worse?? If it improves that means it is running way to lean if worse to rich. Either way it sounds like you have a clogged up carb and you may need to rebuild it. If its the type of carb with out an adjustable main jet some times you can remove the cap over the main jet and the drain plug and spray carb cleaner into the main jet and that will fix the problem but only about 50% of the time will that work but its a cheap fix if it does

You may need to take off the carb and clean it and put in a new kit. While it is apart, make sure the float level setting is correct. Also make sure the carb adjustments are correct.

Choaking it makes it worse

Is this a new problem? If NOT, check your timing first(easy). If it persists and choking it makes it worse, you'll likely need some carb work.

Clogged up air cleaner or carb running to rich then. or maybe even the float has a hole in it
