IH 2424 tractor electric problem

Hi, I have a IH 2424 gas tractor 1976---There are no lights, The fuse blows out instantley as if there is a short. 20amp fuse used.--I disconnected the back lights but it still blows the fuse when I turn the light switch on.Can anyone help? I don"t know what to check next,John in the Poconos.

Youll likely have to rewire the lights. Odds are that the insulation on the wire has rubbed off over time, leaving the wire to short out with another wire, or short out the frame or metal of the tractor.

So try to follow the wires and trace the short. Likely will have to replace part or all of the wiring to lights. So youll need to remove the sheet metal, hood and what not to trace it.
