Farmall Super M Hydraulic Fluid Level

My Farmall Super M does not have a dipstick for the hydraulic fluid. I was told they are no longer available, and would probably cost a fortune anyhow. All I really need is to know what the height should be (or should I say depth), from the top of the fill pipe. If you have a Super M with a belly pump, could you please measure your dipstick and tell me the number of inches (or fraction of) from the top of the fill pipe to the proper fluid level. I can easily take a wooden dowel and make my own measuring tool.

One other thing. Where the control shaft lever enters the side of the pump, I noticed it"s very sloppy. I took out the bolt and found there are four notches that need to line up. These are ok. It seems the inner part going into the pump is what is loose, and when I lower the control shaft there is a spot where it gets tight and makes a clunk sound. How do I fix this? Will adding a bushing where the control shaft exits the clutch housing align the inner parts on the pump, or do I need to repair the pump itself?

The pump works fine, my loader goes up and down, but that shaft is awfully sloppy, and sometimes I have to push the shaft all the way where it"s handle contacts the upper bracket that holds this shaft, (from the steering column bracket), before my loader will drop.

Thanks for all help

Those dipsticks are still around, just put a wanted ad in the Classified Ads on the left, or i do see them on eBay sometimes.
