Guys -

Heading to the other side fo the state tomorrow to look and and probably buy an F-20. Owner says the clutch pedal needs to be pushed way down before it will dis-engage. Is this a bigger problem, of simply a linkage adjustment issue.

Thougths ?

Thanx !

Pete

When I bought my F-20 the clutch pedal did not work right, I removed the clutch inspection cover on the bottom of the tractor and found that the clutch housing was packed full with a mouse nest. I cleaned all that junk out and adjusted the linkage and the clutch seems to work fine now. If the linkage is not the problem, it could be a worn clutch.

Having to push the clutch way down to release would indicate linkage, throw out bearing or a key between the throw out bearing fork and the shaft it is on has worked out or sheared. A worn disc would cause the clutch to release quickly when the pedal is first depressed. A clutch disc can rust between the linings and the metal, causing the disc to become thicker and thus would require greater depressing of the pedal to release. Pressure plate springs or forks could be involved, but would likely release when the pedal is first depressed.
