i've been having trouble getting my H to ile after she is warmed up-i think i have screwed up the srews to where i'm all out of sync-is there a good starting point to begin to adjust the carb-i'm sure i have messed it up by now-thanks

If I had an operator's manual for an H I would tell you. But, I don't own an H and don't have a manual. Surely you do, since you own an H.....?

guess he dosnt or he wouldnt have ask for help. If you cant help you need to tend to things you know about. That is what this forum is for.wise ?

Most of us encourage people to get the manuals, there is a lot in the the manuals that they do not ask about because they are not even aware of it. Don't put down Red Mist, he is one of the more knowledgeable ones on this forum.

Hello Hank,
To adjust the idle adjusting screw, turn it in until lightly seated and open it 1 turn. Start the engine and operate it at fast idling speed (without any load) until thoroughly warm. While the engine is running at fast idle speed, it is advisable to screw in the throttle stop screw a few turns to prevent the engine from stopping when the throttle is closed. Now close the throttle by pushing the throttle lever all the way forward. The engine will then be idling at a fairly high speed and the throttle stop screw can be backed out a little at a time until desired idle speed is obtained. If the engine misses or or rolls while backing out the throttle stop screw, the idle adjusting screw may be adjusted either in or out until the engine operates smoothly. Speed up the engine for a few seconds; then recheck the idle adjustment. A slight adjustment in or out will give the smoothest idle. NOTE: If your H has a magneto, the engine should not be set to idle so slowly that the impulse coupling will trip continuosly. To adjust the main fuel adjustment screw, first warm up the engine. To regulate the main fuel adjustment, advance the engine speed control lever to fast idle position and turn the main fuel adjustment screw clockwise until the fuel flow is shut off and the speed of the engine drops because of the lean mixture; then open until the engine runs smoothly. After the engine has been put under load, readjust the the main fuel adjustment if necessary. Always adjust so that the engine operates smoothly with as lean a mixture as possible.

thanks folks-i have a manual but it isn't very specific as to carb adjustment-maybe there is a different one i need -i'm not too dense mechanically-i rebuilt the engine a few years ago and can do most everything neede to keep her in shape-regards

You need the Operator's manual, available from your Case-IH dealer or www.external_link. It is very specific. I don't think the IT manual that you probably have covers the adjustment.
