Like most, my SC hasn't had a battery box in umpteen years. I decided to install one as part of my restoration, and bought one of those one-piece, made in who-knows-where, $80 boxes (with lid).

It's pretty rough, but I think I can work with it. The mounting tabs were still left on the torque tube, and are way too short to reach to the tabs welded on the bottom of the box, that stick out past the side. The pictures in my operating manual show bolts on those tabs that also hold wires in addition to securing the box.

I can obviously make some new (longer) mounting brackets going to the torque tube, but wonder if anyone has come up with any other great ideas when fitting these boxes.

Thanks,

Doug

The battery box on my SuperC is not a box, but two sides and a top that box in the battery between the Touch Control block and the steering pedestal. Any wires are held by the usual clips (bent metal straps) held down by the bolts securing the bottom edge of the side panels.

Doug: The box Scotty describes is standard on all 100, 200, 130, 230 and 140. They also fit right on SA and SC, just remove the tabs that hold the old battery box. I had one fabricated back in the spring, for my SA. Looks just as professionally built as the factory job on my 130 or 140. These two halves also make it much easier to remove the battery. My fabrication cost me less than $30. I had the cover.

Perhaps not for restoration but I put one of those plastic boat boxes on one of my Cubs.It just fit under the seat where the battery belongs and looks ok for me.
