Parked my cub about 3 months ago in shed, running fine, no problems. It is now stuck. wheels drag when clutch released when towed, jacked up wheel still cant break loose. Have spreyed a can of Kroil 2 cans pb blaster and other penetrants in spark plug holes. Has been soaking 3 weeks.

I cant move the hydraulic lift handle now, that is the only thing different. Hydraulics worked fine while it las time used.

Never ever try to pull a tractor with a stuck engine or it can/will cost you big $$ to fix what may brake. Pull the starter off and make sure its not locked in the flywheel and hope you did not brake teeth on the flywheel. If thats not it then blow out the cylinders and then fill with ATF, if its going to come free ATF will do it because it does 2 things. I cleans out the rust and lubes at the same time. BTDT on many many engines and have always had good luck

Automatic transmission fluid=ATF. Yes its a good thing to pour into the cylinders of an engine that has sat for a long time. It will prelube the cylinder walls, help brake down any rust that may have formed and just plain loosens up the rings etc. You can also mix it with gas to help clean up the engine, 1qt to 5 gal of gas will help clean out carbon deposits and loosen things up that maybe sticking. Ya you can also use MMO but ATF cost less then half and does pretty much the same thing just doesn't smell as good

DUH, I should of known that! Do I just pour the ATF in the cylinders & let sit for a couple of days & then put the plugs back in & crank it? OR do I fill the cylinders & let sit for a couple of days & then crank WITHOUT the plugs? The engine isn't stuck, just want to "clean things out". Thanks for the help.

7lazy77 you don't need ATF if the engine isn't stuck. Change the oil, put new plugs in, gas, and go. The rings will scrub out any minor surface rust in a few hundred revolutions.

I can not an will not agree with you. The reason you put it in is to lube the cylinder walls and also free up the rings if they have stuck from sitting. Its a good thing to do to any engine that has not run for a long time and will in fact save other problems that can/will happen if you turn one over that is dry from sitting

In something like you have pour about a 1/2 cup of ATF in the cylinders and let it sit a few days, be sure you put the plugs back in to keep dirt etc out of the cylinders. Then pull the plugs back out and spin it over to clear the cylinders and after that start it up and run it. At first it will smoke some but that will clear up unless the engine burned oil before you parked it

Thanks for ALL your help. One last question. After I let the ATF sit in the cylinders for a couple of days & remove the spark plugs to crank it, will all the ATF that was put in shoot out of the cylinders OR will I have to drain the excess at oilpan?

After I do this, should I still mix engine treatment (Rislone/MMO) in the oil to work on loosining the remaining sludge in the engine just to clean it up a bit? I am currently dropping the pan to remove what sludge that is settled on the bottom now.

Most of the ATF will shoot out of the cylinders but a little of it will be in the oil pan which is ok also. ATF works as good as MMO as a gas or oil treatment and costs less then half what MMO does

Should I still put ATF in the oil to work on cleaning the sludge out of the rest of the engine? If so how much do I put in? Can & should I put the ATF in if I am running on detergent 10/30 oil?

When I use ATF in the oil I use 1 pint to the other amount of oil needed. It will work ok with any type of oil. You can also mix it 1 qt. to 5 gal of gas to help clean up the top end of the engine and free up sticking valves and remove carbon build up

I can"t believe the engine is stuck that bad in three months. Take off the gearshift lever and top cover off the transmission. It could be you have it stuck in two gears and has the rear locked up.
