Location of Ballast Resistor

Sorry guys but I have to ask one more question about an M converted from 6V to 12V. The wiring diagrams show the ballast resistor ahead of both the coil and distributor after a conversion but I am assuming that is with the original 6V coil.
My M has a 12V coil. Would you put the resistor ahead of both coil and dist. as shown or between the coil and dist?

Ballast resister belongs in the wire from the ignition switch to the coil. I.E. you put it after the switch and before the coil. Now if its a true 12 volt coil that say no resister needed then you don't want or need it

I don't know why or how they can call it a "12V" coil and say "ballast resistor REQURIED" in the same breath... The Super C I just bought has one of those. It's not a 12V coil if it needs a ballast resistor.

The resistor will do its job wired either way you mention. Which you choose boils down which is handiest for you to wire!

Some 12 volt coils have internal resistors, some don't. My 460 had a 12 volt coil AND a resistor. I replaced it with a 12 volt coil with an internal resistor. John T can explain all this, not me.
