Char lynn torque generator identification

I have a 1942 Farmall M with a(I think) Char lynn power steering unit on it. The torque generator on the steering shaft is leaking fluid. I have been trying to look for identifying marks on the unit to identify the model but have been unsuccessful. Can anyone help me here? I have posted 2 pics of the unit over on the "Help Identify" photo gallery. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Typically, there should be a little ID tag riveted to the unit.

I'll take a look at one I have, and see what the # is on mine.

At the link below, scroll down a bit more than 1/2 way, and you can download parts information right from Eaton for the torque generator units.

Looks like they are 207, 217, and 227 series, the small old units are PROBABLY 207 series.

It's a 100 series Torque Generator,Possibly a 101. I have one on my 240....
The seals are replaceableand available at Napa. When you pull it apart be careful of the 18 tiny ball bearings that are inside. Its doable but be aware....

Wow! What great responses to my question. Paul, I think that the info you gave in your answers means that this is a 101 torque generator. Where did the blow up come from? I looked at the website that Bob provided and don't see a 100 or 101 on there. Coax, if I go to NAPA, I guess that I will still need to verify the model of the unit or are you suggesting to just take all the seals in to them and they will try to match them? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to be prepped for the repair.

thanks,
Tom

You Will remove the cap screws on the unit to get the seal out and then you pull the unit apart try to turn it over first B4 u separate it and you'll see several tiny ball bearings(18 I think) will jump out and try to run away!!!When Separated, you will be able to easily punch out the bearing and take it to Napa.Also...Inspect the shaft the steering attaches to for pitting or grooves. In my experience thats where the leak is..You can get a speedi-sleeve to fix the damage.Take the shaft with you. Napa has them to.....when you go to put it back together, slap some grease on the ball bearings to hold them in the cup they belong in and reassemble....there u are!
Peace

That blowup is from an IH parts manual. I don"t know for sure that the one I have is a #101. although I blew up another photo I have of the end of the unit and I believe I can make out "101".

I can also scan the parts list that goes with it, and that will provide all of the IH part numbers. But most importantly, there is a 7 page rebuilding procedure in the IH Blue Ribbon Manual GSS-1278, Hydraulic Valves and Systems.

I rebuilt my power steering unit because of leaks, and it involved a seal and a couple of O-rings. You can remove the two "ends" and get access to the seals without disassembling the entire unit, and possibly disturbing the closely machined lobe surfaces.

If you"d like, I can scan those pages and email them to you.
