Farmall H power....

Do you guys suppose a H could pull a 6 foot bush hog with no problem? I have a Woods MD 172 and was wondering if the H could pull it or would it be too much for it? I mow alot of hills and such, and was wondering if I should attempt putting this behind the H. I can see an M pulling it with no problem, but I was wondering about an H. Any thoughts?

an h or an m is not a good choice for hills because they are so high. they dont have live pto which makes them a bad choice for brushhoging becuase they push the tractor after you puch the clutch in unless you have an overrun coupler. other tghen that if our not mowing heavy brush i think you h would do fine

You're going from about 40hp to about 28 hp. Heavy brush with no live PTO; this would not be my choice. Farmall 300, 350, or Super mta would be ideal...

I have a Farmall "m" a "c" and a john deere 790,that is listed at 30hp I have a 6 foot brush hog on it and I hardly ever give it more than half throttle.

I pull a 6' with an H, if mowing thick tall grass like brome or heavy weeds it is a full load in 1st gear and sometimes have to cut higher the first pass but if mowing 6 to 12 inch stuff it does alright.

An over-ride coupling is a must. Your H can handle the 6 footer on flat ground with no problem. On hills, you may have to mow half the width.
