how can I find a recent tip of the day, that gave a process to make a soldering paste or flux using muriatic acid and cut up cannign jar lids ?

i dont know how to find that tip but anyway , as far as i know your supposed to add little slivers of those lids, which contain zinc into the muratic acid. it then boils till it disolves the zinc. then you have a heavy duty soldering flux.

WOW! That is pretty slick. I usually buy mine, for plumbing and brazing jobs. To need as much flux as this procedure can make, you must be leading bodywork or soldering large pieces of sheet metal.

My late Uncle used to do that... cut up zinc fruit jar lids and add little pieces of it to a small amount of muriatic acid in a glass jar 'til the acid would not dissolve any more to make a "tinning flux".
