Did something wrong.

Wondering what I did wrong, rebuilt engine on my 1947 Farmall A used old clutch and pressure plat all good. Clutch works as it should if I don't push it down too far but if I push it down all the way it hits something as it turns make racket and can feel it in pedal.

If it is like that of a cub and i do believe it is then it is out of adjustment.

Depending on the year it is adjusted on the clutch pedal at the bottom , or on the underside of the tractor.

My cub would do the same thing and all it was , was a adjustment on the clutch pedal.

Had that happen with my BN.

First make sure your freeplay is set correctly.

If you've got a hand crank, get a couple of helpers. One should hold the clutch pedal fully depressed. the other should turn the motor with the crank. You should be on your back with a light looking up through the inspection hole at the bottom of the bell of the torque tube.

If your problem is what mine was, it will be the very front of the clutch actuating rod that is connected to the bottom of the fork holding the throwout bearing. It will be hitting the heads of either the bolts holding the clutch cover to the flywheel, or the bolts that adjust the finger height (It's been long enough ago that I can't remember for sure which, but I'm pretty sure it's the latter.) and pretty plain to see. After some fiddlin', headscratchin' and measurin', it turned out to be a matter of alignment of the fork. While sittin' and ponderin, I noticed that the dowel pin that holds the top of the bearing fork in place was a lot further in on one side than the other, taking the rod off to the side with it. Drove the dowel to center, problem solved.

There's quite a lot of play to either side of that fork with the cotter pin that holds the dowel pin on, so it may take some back and forth to find the spot, but once you get it centered up, I'm bettin' that will take care of your problem.

I should say that if the freeplay adjustment doesn't take care of it, THEN check out the fork and alignment of the rod.
