I am wondering what fluid to put in reservoir under the TA? There is a small area there that held some old gear oil before, and also do not know level required? The PTO gear area also has a reservoir, I assume same gear oil and then what level or quantity? I am having an issue with gear oil leaking out the two drain holes under the TA clutch, and am thinking it is coming from the PTO side, thru the seal there into TA area? Any assistance would be appreciated. JC

The TA area is a dry location. There are weep holes there, but if Hytran (or stuff so black it is beyond ID, then the TA seals are leaking, There should be level and drain plugs in the PTO, Hytran in their as well. Purchase a Repair manual and an IT repair manual.
It sounds like a split is needed to get at the seals to replace them (Ramp and rollers and a TA clutch while in there, JimN

Thank you, but under the TA gear cluster is a reservoir area, probably only hold a quart? Does the gearing get lubricated from here or by flow from transmission? I agree that the area under TA clutch should be dry, and yes, we have replaced the seal on trans, and PTO sides. We are putting new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing in. Should all be 80/90 wt gear oil? IT manual does not specify any of this info. Thanks for your help! JC
