450 Hydraulics

On my 450, I have to rev it up quite aways to get it to pick anything up on the fast hitch. It wont pick my fast hitch disc up but it will pick up my 3 bottom if I rev it up. Is there any adjustments to make or could it be a bad pump? If I have to change the pump how challenging is it.

Hi, Chris;
I'm not familiar with the 450, but if their anything like the 460's, it'll be a good idea to first check the filter and clean the screen, and if that doesn't work, it'll be time to check out the output pressure of the pump.
On my 460 utility it's an easy job to change the pump, its under a plate down on the left side of the tractor just in front of the clutch pedal. When I changed mine it wasn't any problem to change, however, I changed out my pump without checking the pump out and now I have a new pump and a good used one.
Good luck, there are a lot of guys on here that can help you better than I can and they're always willing to help.

there is a big filter in the reservoir ( 4 half inch bolts on the left side bottom. there is a screen (#10 in pic--brass flathead)in the hydro block that is probably dirty. if you do this, have some new oil ready...
