neighbor went to borrow my h, was 12v converted long ago, however had + ground. well battery was dead and he jumped it without checking and smoked the wiring harness. so i need to rewire everything. even cooked the genny. so i got the genny rebuilt, new 12v regulator, couple rolls of #14 and #10 wire. to change to 12v - ground. basically just move the coil power to the other side, reverse wires on the ammeter and then re-polarize the genny correct? just want to be sure so i dont smoke anything.

You got it covered there Glenster::::::

Wire her up,,,,,,Connect Battery at Neg ground,,,,,,,,,,POLARIZE the Genny BEFORE you start it,,,,,,,,,,Coil is polarity sensitive i.e. at Neg round its lil + receives ignition switched voltage while its lil - wires to distributor,,,,,,,,,In the even the ammeter isnt wired correct, simply swap its leads i.e. wire it so with tractor off if you turn on lights or ignition it swings over to - discharge then swings to + charge when running at RPM.......

Woooooooo Hooooooooooo

thanks john, i was trying to think if i was missing something, then i started questions what i was going to do, then i got worried i was gonna fry something. now i feel better!!!! i'll get er wired up this weekend!! thanks again, glenn

If you have a generator (and not an alternator) then don't you also have a voltage regulator?

And aren't voltage regulators + or - ground specific?
