Better Fuel Ecomony H or M

fairly new to this forum, probably covered before but, which machine is better on fuel, H OR M? Would be using it for snow plowing and light brush hogging.

h is a lot better on fuel, smaller engine, less horsepower than the m.

I agree fully with Glennster; unless you need the additional power of the M, the H is by far more economical. mike

The H would be easiest on fuel. The M is not too bad either, but the H is easier on fuel because it is a smaller tractor. They are both good tractors.

Well that is sort of like asking which gets better mileage a full size pick up or a compact well you know the answer. 99% of the time smaller means better mileage same holds true with tractors. But an M will pull circles around and H

The M has a garden hose for a fuel line...they use a lot of fuel when working them, an H is far more economical but a smaller lighter tractor as well..all depends how big a snow blade and how deep you get snow..as pointed out an M will pull an H around all day

H all the way. I have both and the M sits while the gas is high. H with the H I drag gravel with the blade and bushhog stuff taller than the tractor. It does fine. Right now we are cutting firewood in an old fellows lot. Using the boom pole to drag the trees over to the brush pile to top out and then to the splitter to cut up and load. put $25 in gas in it two weeks ago and still have some left, not much, but enough for a couple more days. I do shut it down when not using it. The H is smaller and much easier to snake in through the trees than the M.

Even back in the 1940s the M was recognized as a fuel hog. Unless you need the power an H is much more economical - especially for light duty.

Nebraska tests had the M at 12.24 hp hour per galon of fuel and the H at 11.59. So the M would have a slight advantage if you need the hp.

Both tractors used to capacity and at full power, the M is more efficient.

Doing the same job, like raking hay where neither tractor is running at capacity, the H will be more efficient.

One tractor has 148cu in and the other has 248cu in. All depends on what work you need done.
