I have a Utility 300 with Davis loader and backhoe. The engine has a gap between the mounting plate on the transmission. I I remember correctly the bolts are almost behind the flywheel. I am wondering if anyone has ever been able to seperate the engine and trans just a bit to tighten these bolts. I don"t really want to remove the loader etc if possible. There is about an 1/8th inch gap at the bottom that makes the starter bind unless I put a jack under and tighten it up.

Get the loader and the backhoe off of that tractor right now and put the tractor in the shop. Split it in two and fix what"s wrong. If you continue to use it as it is, the poor thing will very soon break completely in two and then you will be sending it to China.

I actually have not used this tractor at all. I bought it from a neighbor who had it sitting for several years. I am in the process of working on it to get it back to running shape. Thanks for the reply.
