Timing gears

Hi gents. My M is throwing up a stupid problem with the timing. I can line it all up correctly it runs fine. Then suddenly it will be too far advanced according to the timing and stop running. So I retime it it runs fine then suddenly it will be too far retarded so it stops. Its not the mag because I've put three different mags on from properly running tractors. Its almost as if somthing somewhere is jumping a tooth on the timing gear. Is this reasonably possible, your thoughts on this one please. MTF

You may have a woodruff key thats that is partially sheared on the magneto gear. Hal
