How often and how much should you put in there and what weight.

I have always used the same oil as the air cleaner or engine and oil it every month or so when using it. I always just put 4-5 drops each time and never had a starter bushing go out. Not sure what spec is though.

sparingly. I'd say probably oil it once a year. Oil the generator too.

I agree with Nebraska, at most I do it about twice a year, just a couple drops of motor oil.
