HI
I recnetle acquired a 300 u. It had a new ts111 starter from here on it. I was told it only started tractor maybe 8-10 times then would not work. I found the bendix to be bad. I got the new style starter drive from Marshalls. Now it has gone bad. I have worked on starters before and have the same drive in my super A. It works no problem. Any ideas what to look for? I checked the ring gear it apears fine no bad spots. I marked it and went all around it.
thanks

Howdy
Just had to comment even if some people might not like my opinion. I was for 35 years a parts manager at a large GM dealership, paid on commision basis. Rebuilt and off-shore parts cost me a lot of money as my department had to pay for shop labor on failed non factory parts, GM would cover the labor on failed original equipment replacement parts. Sometimes a customer would insist on low priced non factory parts, I would only sell them if the customer agreed to pay labor if thr part failed. Rebuilt parts in MOST cases are the ones that should not be rebuilt because of things like water damage in the case of carbs etc, starters, alts that have been overheated badly , and so on----someone elses problem dumped off on the rebuilder and eventually bought by you and me.
Being a cheapskate ( I mean thrifty person ) myself, I have always rebuilt things myself so I knew what I had, or got by with a good used part. Id rather trust a used part that is still working good after 20 years even if it has an inch of grease on it than some spray painted rebuilt part. Sorry about the short novel, but had to say it.

Are you sure that the starter is correct for the application? If there is that much trouble, it sounds like the starter nose length might be wrong or have other issues.

HI
It is the correct starter number acording to chart. I got the tractor after starter was replaced so do not have the original
