H Seat Spring - Hard to Find

Hello All.

I purchased two H's this past spring, one with the newer spring/shock arrangement. The older H has the old style seat with no shock and the spring with the bolt through it, right next to the deck.

Well, the spring on this older model is sprung. Several of the coils are pushed out to the side, and it really doesnt help cushion the ride much. However, I dont see any of these springs for sale anywhere. I can find plenty of the springs for the newer type seats, but none of these.

Can anyone point me in the direction of one of these springs? I honestly wouldnt mind swapping the entire seat assembly out for the new style, but then I have no idea what I would do with the old seat post.

Any input is much appreciated!

I agree about the salvage yard idea. I"m not sure where you live, but I"m 99% certain that Gotvald Imp. in central MN would have one... (320)-355-2500 is their number.

I actually like the older style that you have because I always feel less like the spring wants to break and dump me off the back... that"s just me though.

t gives you a real thrill when that bolt breaks, and as you are going down the end of the bolt, cap over spring, etc. pass your nose going up. :?
 
Haha, I hadn"t thought of that! I guess both can give you a nice thrill, huh? The only seat I ever had break off on me was the one on my W4... and it was the post itself, not the spring. It also happened on its maiden voyage out of the shed, while being pull started, with a FRESH coat of paint on it. Let"s just say I was really busy for a couple seconds!
