Gold/yellow farmall A

While scavenging parts off one of my Farmall A's (have 4) I noticed that here is quite a bit of gold colored paint under the red. Were there ever any gold series A's made? I also have the serial number if that helps decipher any info. on the tractor. When I bought this tractor it came with a set of Arps tracks and a sickle mower, got a good deal and couldn't pass it up.

The two possiblities that I can think of are. Either it is an old dept of highway tractor or might be a Gold demonstrator... I'd hope its t he later of the two.. :D

No it doesn't have the diamond axle (I have an Industrial International Super A also) which does have that axle. The A that I am asking about seems to be a typical A except that the paint underneath the red is a goldish yellow. Here is the serial # FAA 215335. If it turns out to be a regular A could you tell me what year it is? Thank you, Joe

the serial # indicates a 1947 model, I go to wisconsin historical society web page then i pull op the records, for instance i have a farmall 240 that i discuvered it was yellow underneath the red thru investigating it i found that the year they made this one they only made 22 as modified units (other than standard)which could mean paint hitch tires i hope this is helpfull

I would have to go with FarmallJD's first thought on this. Probably an old D.O.T. tractor. IH would paint a tractor any color you requested and with it being yellow I would have to say D.O.T. tractor. Here in Pa you still see quite a few farmall 140's in use by penndot with sickle mowers on them. They have switched over to more modern tractors in the last few years with flail mowers, but I still see quite a few 140's active.

The serial #means iy was built at the Louisville plant in the later run of that model. There were no gold demonstraters ever built in that series.
