Just bought a 300 Utility

I always thought it would be an interesting project to get an old tractor running and possibly looking good. I bit the bullet and brought this home the other day. I'm sure I will spend too much money and time on it, but I couldn't help myself. I am also sure I will need many questioned answered. And it sure looks better in the small photo than in person.

I like the styling of these 300 utilitys, yours appears to be in very good shape, The ones I usually see dont look like that. Good luck.

I found it a few miles east of Pittsburgh, PA. There were 4 for sale in the last two months and I never had seen one before. Looked at Massey Ferguson, Oliver and Ford mainly, but the International had the independant pto and more power.

For your sack I hope it has power steering because if it doesn't those things can be a bear to drive. I have a friend that has one and no power steering and he complains about it all the time because of how hard it is to steer

The only reason I ask is I missed out on one that sold for 800.00-and it ran-guy selling it only wanted what was owed to him on a seperate family debt type thing.
Day late and 800.00 short-lol
This tractor was in eastern Iowa

No power steering, and it is very hard to turn! I hope putting tri rib tractor tires on in place of the truck tires helps some.

Mike

Adding power steering might come down the road, after I use it a bit and see if no major repairs crop up.

Did not help on my friends. When we got it, it has military type tread tires on it and we tried the rib type tires on it and that did not help much if any. That was one of the problems that the 300U has is the hard steering

i believe you will find putting tri rib tires on it will make you think you have power steerig . it did mine . i paid $400 for mine but have done a lot of work on it . mostly miss treated and abused .

Yes, two sets of rear weights! I would like to find a set for the front to balance it out. Ah, but first lets fix the oil leaks, and see why the governer doesn't always come down to a slow idle...

Mike

Until you get the power steering, leave the weights off the front. The Power steering mentioned in the other reply is a complete replacement, and does not use the original components (that is a good thing) JimN

The same diagrams from the owners manual are on Caseih.com. Goto the parts lookup, search for 300, pick 300 utility and goto the electrical section.
