Found a real nice 720 5-18" plow that"s too cheap, but I don"t think my 100hp tractor can pull it. I didn"t look at it close enough to tell- can it be made into a 4 bottom without cutting the beam?

Unless you're in heavy gumbo or wet clay soils, the 100 Hp. tractor should be O.K. We pulled our 5- 18 plow with the 856 when we had it---the 1066 pulls it better--- but the 856 never strained itself.

It all depends on the ground. Back when I was little, Dad plowed with a 756 gas and 4-14s. It was a constant struggle.

He upgraded to a 1066 and 5-16. Even that doesn't pull all that well. Shredded a set of rear tires long before they were worn out. Fully loaded 20.8 radials with calcium and four sets of weights, still spinning. Lighter was worse.

The 5240 Maxxum 4x4 pulls 5-16 better than anything else.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to get the plow. For $500, I just can't pass it up. Tractor is a 1070 Case with lots of weights. I'll hook it up and see how it acts- won't hurt to try. I had planned on using my IH 550 that's 5-14", but the 720 is so much nicer. Thanks again.

BTW, you can take the rear bottom off, and move the wheel up one space. Forgot to mention that earlier.
